When  the Party is on, everyone leaves their disagreements behind for 5 whole days and EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

When the Party is on, you will see some very strange things happening.

It is the only time of the Year that the 3 Wizards cooperate, as you know. Even more strangely, the Witches cooperate with them as well and with one another. That makes some pretty powerful magic! So far, noone has ever wanted to risk getting into trouble with ALL of them at once by mucking up at the Party.

All the Spiders promise not to bite anyone at all for 5 days and they promise not to play any tricks with their web-weaving. When Party is on, there are Spiders all around the edges of the Party Place. It’s a busy time for them. The only way into the Party is through the Webs and they are looking specially pretty this year. It takes just one Promise from each person to get in. Here’s how to get into the Party Place:

1. Find a Spider.
2. Tell them who you are.
3. Choose one thing you do and promise NOT to do it for the whole five days of the Party.

Then the Spider will show you the space in the web and in you go.

	Antony has promised not to play his drums while other bands are playing.
	Briar Rose has promised not to play with the Dragons while they are doing the cooking. She wants to be just like Rose when she gets a little older – but she is still just a Briar Rose and doesn’t quite know what she is doing when it comes to Dragons.
	The 3 Blind Mice have promised not to run after the Farmer’s Wife this time. She cuts off their tails with the carving knife each time and then Benedict cannot play the fiddle for weeks and weeks because his bottom is too sore for jiggling about.
	Cerissa has promised not to push James off his rocking horse and James says he will not call her names or even laugh at her Party hairstyle.
	The Larrikin Lads are coming in from the Forest, dressed in their very best clothes. They are promising to play no tricks and to dance with anyone who looks lonely and sad. Larrikin Lads LOVE Parties.
	The Spiders almost told Douglas he could not come in this time. He jumped right into the middle of the Fairies and Piskeys when they were halfway through their Arriving Dance. He has promised not to do it again.
	Down the Lane at the Edge of the Village lives a very shy man. He grows potatoes. Not ordinary potatoes. Potatoes of every colour and shape. Potatoes that can fix broken bones and bleeding sores and all manner of things. His name is Ethelred the Unready. He is the REAL Ethelred and he is never ready for anything much except growing his potatoes.
Ethelred certainly wasn’t ready to come to the Party but Triflora knows about the Shy People and we have some special people who spend the whole First Day travelling round Triflora and bringing in the Shy People.  Francine knew just the right things to say to Ethelred and soon he had his best coat and hat on and they were off to the Party.	The Spiders know about the Shy People and the Gatherers and they let them through the Webs without asking them to promise anything. They just hope that the Shy People will have a good time.
	In Triflora, there are rather a lot of Kings. Kings of all types. Most of them have nothing much to do and live in one enormous palace where they hardly ever meet one another. Each one thinks he is the Kings of Kings. Each King thinks the Party is for him. They all come dressed in their very best crowns and robes.
The Kings look pretty smart, but each of them likes to be the centre of attention and that’s not going to happen at the PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL.  It takes a lot of Promises to get all the Kings through the Webs.	Tigersclaw is NOT to use that hand on anyone at the Party. He does have a bit of a temper.
	Gwenevra has come with her Puppet People. She has promised that she will not tell them what to do. We will see !

OUT IN THE WOODS AT NIGHT

What are you doing here and more importantly, can you sing ?

For a while it looked like none of the Bears would be able to make it to the PARTY.

Irene and Jarvis gave all the Bears a very bad name indeed. Irene was meant to sing the song in the Bear’s Parade. Her voice was still sweet as Triflora Honey but she was still unbearable.  In the end, it took all 3 Wizards working together to put a magic ring around Unbearable Forest long enough to keep Irene and Jarvis inside and let the other bears go to the Party.

The Bears still needed a Singer. They tried out some very strange Singers and were beginning to GIVE UP. Noone sang like Irene !

Except …….. if they ALL joined in and simply sang along together …. nothing sounds as good as a big group of friends and family singing together.

LOOKING GOOD–LET THE PARTY BEGIN.

Just as the Sun goes down and all the night lights come on, out come the Flower Children. The Oddling Dreamer leads them out and he is SO excited. The Cats are purring and the rest of Triflora clap their hands and paws and wings. The  food smells delicious. The Music has started and the Flower Children are dressed in every colour there has ever been. They each wear their own perfume  as they dance and at each Party a new perfume comes out for the very first time. The Party has begun.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE ORCHESTRA IS PLAYING.

THINGS THAT GO WRONG ON DAY NUMBER ONE.

When people are waiting for Parties to start, things can sometimes go a little bit wrong.

When people are waiting for Parties to start, things can sometimes go a BIG bit wrong.

That’s why it pays to keep an eye on things.

It looks like Bettina and Andy have had a quarrel but they seem to be sorting it out. I do not know why Andy thinks a bean is a good way to make things right.

One of the things about Ginger Tea is that it gives me plenty of sharp eyes to look about with and saves my feet for dancing. It means I can see where things are starting to go wrong and send someone in to do something about it before it turns into real Trouble.

Looks like a slight problem has occurred in the Edible Orchard. Carolina is up in the Chucklefruit Tree and she is certainly chuckling. Dennis has his Party outfit on and Carolina thinks it is pretty funny. I don’t think she will come to the Party with him looking like that and her eating one chuckleberry too many. I had best send JAINSTAR to have a talk with them and get Carolina away from those berries.

 

 

Hmm. Looks like Snow White is too scared to come. She still thinks her Stepmother will find her down here in Triflora. This looks like a job for the TGLS Fable Arts. No evil Stepmother will be getting to Snow White with TGLS taking care of her. TGLS plus 7 Dwarves will keep her safe!

Oh No ! Mr William White is at it again. How did he get out and about. There he is – going mad at the Sun again. If he keeps doing this, the Sun might take himself off and hide behind the Clouds, or even decide to set earlier than he should.

Mr William White can be a right pain in the neck!

What will we do with him ?

 

 

Ah well. It is the first day of a Party and there are always strange things that happen on Day 1. That ‘ornery giant chucked big rocks at any of the boats ad ships coming in from the Perfumed Sea. Its lucky he is such a bad tosser.

I haven’t even looked at the food or the music. There are enough people taking care of them. The dragons are already deep in the cooking pits but I haven’t seen Rose at all.

It’s just about time to get dressed. This is going to be one Fancy Party.

KEEPING AN EYE ON THINGS

Its lucky I sat down here at Poppy’s Place. The ginger tea is waking me up and making my eyes sharper and sharper. That means that I can see even better than I usually can and I DO like to keep an eye on things. I have already found one Flower Child out and about and dressed in someone else’s blossoms and now – just look at what I can see from this Bench.

If that is a Flower Child, I will eat my own broomstick.  Ah well lets send him in to Una and Veronica and let him try to tell them that he is a 4 leaf clover – with a beard.

 

The Cats are out and about this morning. Bringing in the Flower Children and keeping them happy and busy.

You look absolutely gorgeous; says the Mighty X to Yvette.  What an amazing dress!

Mighty X is rounding up the Flower Children who are out and about in the Cottage Gardens and the Flowerpots near the Shops. He already has our so-called 4 leaf clover tucked into his fur and is taking him back to Oddling Dreamer’s tower. Its not time for the Flower Children yet – not even the ones with beards.

Veronica enjoys the first day of the Party for No Reason at All. She loves the Children and all the colour and beautiful smells that they bring with them. She makes sure that they get some rest and plenty of good food for the day. She talks them into having a bit of a sleep because they just might be up all night long once the Party gets going. The dance of the Flower Children starts just as the Sun sets and then the Party truly begins.

Veronica and Anthony Alsatian enjoy a quiet afternoon tea while the Little Ones sleep. Anthony takes care of the outfits and Veronica has been fitting them and spinning up new ideas.  In the room above, the Oddling Dreamer is dreaming the songs for the Dance. He has 4 more to dream up.

 

LOOKING AROUND THE PARTY PLACE

Now that I know the Flower Children are safely with Una and Veronica, I might take a look around and see who is here and what they are up to. Best I take myself to Poppy’s Place and have a cup of ginger tea before I take a walk around the Party Place. It’s rather BIG now with tents and caravans and all manner of things. 

Well, there goes Lloyd again. Silly, horse-headed fellow ! Every time that Marjorie puts on her best shawl and that beautiful black skirt with the flower pattern on it, he faints. Every single time.  I think I will take a look for Grandpa. He doesn’t much like people and he doesn’t much like parties and if he can think of a way out of the PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL, he will simply not turn up.

Just because the Lightship has been made doesn’t mean that all 3 Wizards aren’t needed now. A Party like this one needs all the Magic in Triflora.

Ah! There he is. That’s better than the last Party.. WE had to smoke him out of his tower last time but here he is in the entrance to the Cave on the edge of the Party Place. Looks like Lucinda talked him into coming. Lucinda is very good with white doves and with Grandpa. Grandpa’s wizard name name is Trebor  and he has the best magic for mobile phones, computers, cameras and sound equipment. I wonder whether he brought his Followers with him. They will keep this party pumping.

Oh no ! I knew there would be something going on somewhere. Just look at Mr William White ! There he is again. All dressed up as if he were g0ing to work at an “office’ in the World Up Top. Will that man never learn that he is DEAD and he is NEVER going to be Boss of anywhere again?

I do believe that he is telling the Sun when to go down so that the Party can really begin.

I shall have a word to Mr William White. He doesn’t even know that he is only as big as a jelly bean these days.

The Sun Goes down when the Sun wants to go down. There is no changing that!

Ah! No need for me to worry. Voluminous Van Tickle is taking care of Mr William White. Voluminous is rather BIG! Big for Triflora. Voluminous keeps an eye on the Little People who have come from the World Up Top. The ones who don’t know that they are not Up There anymore. The ones who think they are still alive. They can’t go back and forwards like Saffron and Rose and Poppy. They can’t go out there and fly like the Birds or go back to work like the Flower Children’s parents.

Poor things – they get a  bit confused and sometimes they get very upset.

Voluminous knows what to do. He will soon give Mt William White a job at the Party. Very soon, I hope, before the Sun gets too annoyed.

I am ready for a sit down at Poppy’s and my cup of ginger tea.

Just a moment. I can smell something not quite right here in this corner of the garden. Now, what is that?

Look at that! Its not a Flower. It’s a Flower Child. And its not Violet even though it looks like her. It smells quite different. Its Johnnie Jump-up. Its off to Una and Veronica with you, young Johnnie. Its not time for Flower Children yet.

I wonder what Rose will be wearing when she brings the Dragons across. This is the first year that she has lived in the Dragon Caverns and now she is the Dragon Mistress.

I remember when she was just little Briar Rose and wore short pink skirts and she was very cute.

I don’t think CUTE will be the right word for the Dragon Mistress.

SAFFRON.

Dressing for the Party is a most exciting thing.  I am always a little surprised to see what people decided to wear.

Gert Gumnut simply will not take her ballet outfit off. She even sleeps in her ballet shoes and like to have her hair done up every day.

Saffron Crocus and the other Flower Children have their Flower outfits ready to go. They look AMAZING !

The Flower Children spend hours and hours getting dressed for the party. That is a very good thing because it keeps them busy  while some of the other jobs are being done.

People –older people – think that Flower Children get in their way while they are working but the Children DO try to help.

Just the same, it is probably better that they are getting dressed and dancing and singing. No party would be a party without The Flower Children .

You can see how colourful and pretty they are. The Flower Children know how to be HAPPY.

I, myself, do not like Cats and we have quite a few cats in Triflora.  Una, the white cat doesn’t even like going into the Gardens. She eats her dinner from a plate and wipes her whiskers on a cloth napkin. What she does like doing is helping the Flower Children get dressed for the Party. Una has perfect taste for clothes. She knows EXACTLY  what someone should wear.

She is keeping an eye on the Little Ones while the food is being prepared and the decorations arranged. Rose is getting the cooking dragons ready and Poppy is very busy at her Place. She is ORGANISING things.  Wizzy is writing up the names of the Musicians and  doing sound checks. Even though I do not like Una, I am glad she is taking care of the Flower Children while we are all so busy.

Una’s friend, Veronica, is helping out as well. She is toasting bagels for the Children and making them warm drinks.We try to keep them inside till the end of the first day because we like to surprise them. When they come out just as the Moon begins to smile, things look just about perfect and it is a very exciting time for everyone when the Flower Children come dancing out through the Oddling Dreamer’s doorway. It’s like being in a garden where all the flowers bloom at one time.

EMOTICONS FOR POPPY.

One thing that Poppy really loves is EMOTICONS. Just the other day she found all these little Emoticons lost in the Garden and she brought them all home to her Place.  Poppy’s place is almost always filled with emoticons.

There are 100s od them trying to find the Party. If you see any Emoticons lost in the Garden, please send them on to Poppy. There is plenty of room for them at her place.

These are her favourites. She knows they are disgusting but they are still her favourites.

    NANA has been finding emoticons all over the place. They don’t seem to be very good at finding their way around and Nana does NOT like sitting down and landing on top of a smiley face. She has Stella Starface out looking for them and taking them all down to Poppy.  Here are some of the Emoticons that Nana found in her tower today.

                   

DANCE. DANCE. DANCE.

By the first day of the Party, Bib and Bub, who lived in the Bush, decided that they knew enough about Human Dancing to open a school  for all the Triflora Creatures. Don’t forget that NOONE at all in the whole of Triflora is really quite Human.

Some of them LOOK human and some of them do not look Human.

But not one of them is really a Human like the people in the World up Top.

That’s why Bib and Bub opened the School of Human Dancing. The Birds had gone up Top and watched. Then they came back to the Bush and taught everyone to dance and now Bib and Bub thought they were ready to teach the people at the PARTY FOR NO REASON. I don’t think they knew how crazy that could be.

They taught the Hula to Millicent, Minerva and Mabel and that was very beautiful but some of the others just didn’t get the hang of it at all.
	Bib and Bub taught the CAN CAN which is a very interesting dance.

GERT AND SAFFRON START THE BAND

Whatever are you doing ?  said Saffron.

Well, Gert came out from under the Bench and sat beside Saffron. She told her all about the Bush and the Strong Man and Saffron told her about the Band.

Well, said Gert.  Who is in your band?

So Saffron told her that Rose and Poppy would be but they were very busy at the moment.

So Gert and Saffron decided to start the Band by themselves. 

This will be very interesting.  said Saf.

Gert and Saf made the best of Friends. They had  GREAT IDEAS and nothing much scared either of them. Gert had never in her whole life had clothes to wear. When she went to Poppy’s Place,  she knew exactly what she wanted. She wanted the ballerina dress and the ballerina shoes. She wanted to DANCE. Saf chose a silver grey dress and a wonderful hat with flowers  on.

I shall ask Wizzy! He will tell me what to play ! she said. Before too long, Wiz had given her a special instrument which he brought down from his tower for her and she was singing and playing just as though her name was already up in lights.

They had a good talk to Poppy and the three of them decided to call the band, THE PETALS. They didn’t bother Rose because she was very busy with the Dragons and she was also rather big now and didn’t always want to play.

Then the Girls went back to the BENCH and began writing songs and playing music and dancing. Then they made a sign saying : THE PETALS : AUDITIONS HERE. They want to have a very BIG BAND.

Then Gert and Saf sat down to wait for Musicians who wanted to try out for their new band: THE PETALS. It was a good place to sit because they could see al the Party People arriving while they were trying out new members of the Petals. Poppy’s Place was just 2 cottages from them and she kept sending them beautiful things to eat and drink.

GERT GUMNUT MEETS SAFFRON CROCUS FLOWER

Saffron specially likes the times when everyone is  busy doing things. Sometimes they forget to keep an eye on her and she can do whatever she likes, just like Gert Gumnut was doing in the Bush just before they cut her tree down and carried her to the Party.

Since Saffron’s Mum had come down to Triflora, things had gotten a bit careful. Mothers DO like to stop little ones from having fun.

On the morning of the PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL, Mumma told her that her Dadda was coming down to Triflora as well. That has been a bit of a shock ! Dadda is coming down to help cook the food. He knows how to cook “WITH LOVE” but Saffron is not sure that the Guardians can whirl and swirl quite enough molecules to let her father into Triflora. She could NOT imagine her father as a Little man. Not at all.

They can do it ! said her Mumma. He will be here very soon! Then we will all start cooking.

Well. That will keep them busy ! thought Saffron to her own self. Off she went to take a good look around – all by herself.

She saw the Circus and Carnival people. 

She saw the Strong Man and all the people dressed in special clothes.

She saw the Cooks coming to the Party Kitchen.

She saw Poppy with all the beautiful and funny clothes that people could want.

She saw the big glass window in the seaside pool where the Underwater People could have their Party and everyone could join in.

And then she saw Wizzy getting the Musicians’ Names written up in Lights. 

Lights went on inside Saffron’s own head. SHE could have a band and her band could play at the Party. She REALLY wanted her name up in lights.

Saffron could see it right there and then. Her and the Rose and Poppy. The trouble is that Rose and Poppy are VERY busy getting things ready for the Party and Saffron needs some band members RIGHT NOW.  She went down to the last cottage in the Village and sat on the bench out the front. That’s when she saw a little Girl hiding under the bench and wearing nothing but a Gumnut hat. Saffron Crocus had met Gert Gumnut.

Montague the Fireless Dragon.

To dear Rose,

One more night until the Party begins. And then 5 days of party, party, party. I’m watching from up in my Tower – just to see what’s going on down near Poppy’s Place.

I’m staying up here in the Tower until the Angels stop playing.  I am too old to pretend that I like Angel Music but I do not want to hurt their feelings by telling them to stop. Its just as bad as the Old Butter Factory in Bellingen in the World Up Top.

Ah! Now that’s better ! I can hear drums.  Love from Nana Lynne.

Nana sent her note off with Montague the Fireless Dragon. He flew straight out of her Tower and back to the Rose in Dragon Caverns. Rose didn’t bring the Dragons for the whole party because they needed to stay calm in case they forgot where they were and burst out blazing.  That’s what happens when Dragons laugh. Out comes the fire and who knows what will get blazed.  Nana will let her know when the Dragon Party Area is ready for them to come.

 

Now, the drums that Nana heard coming belong to the Clowns. The Triflora Circus and Carnivalia have plenty of work to do before the Party starts. They set up the Tents and decorate the whole village.

The Circus and Carnival People have everyone laughing and happy before the Party even begins.

The Circus and Carnival People also know how to build the Dragon party Area. That is more important than you might think because without the Dragons, not enough food would be cooked.

The PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL needs a LOT of food.

A lot of food cooking needs a lot of fire and Dragons have a lot of fire IF they are doing a lot of laughing.

That’s the main reason that the Circus and Carnival People come to the Party the day before it even begins to begin.  Here are the reasons that the Circus and Carnival People come to the Party so early.

1. The set up camping and tents.  They do not need portable toilets because noone needs to go to the toilet in Triflora. Not ever !  https://grunkles.wordpress.com/about/
2. They get everyone into good moods while they are getting the Party ready.
3. They keep the Music going.
4. They build the Dragon Party Area.  We call it the D.P.A. When its finished, then it is the Circus People’s Job to get them laughing and laughing so that they blaze fire and blaze fire and the food can be cooked. Its not easy building a DPA. The Dragons need to be comfortable and happy because they ARE at a party. They flames when they laugh need to heat the stoves for the food. They need someone who can make them laugh to whatever temperature the cooks need. Now – that is NOT easy.

I have been trying to find out who will be playing Music at the Party and I have found quite a lot. Wizzy has a few secrets. I think. It will be the biggest party he has ever organised the Music for, so I am leaving him alone to do his work.

Here are the Musicians I know about so far.

Triflora parties last for 5 days. You know how important the Music is. It is the ONLY thing that keeps the Trouble away. That’s why the Party is starting with Angel Music. I don’t specially like Angel Music myself but it is a pretty good way to start the Party while everyone is getting ready and the food is being prepared.

Duncan on Drums.	The Angels have asked Keleah to play piano with them. Its not very easy to fly with a Piano so Keleah is happy to play for the Angels. She lives right next door to Poppy’s Place so there is no problem at all. Of course – Hannibal Hound will be singing along with her.

 

I would like to tell you about some more of the Musicians who will be playing and singing but Wizzy has finally fallen asleep.

THE PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL : THE BUSH PEOPLE.

All this time, Gert Gumnut has been hiding away, just watching all the people coming and going and all the things going on. She has never seen anything like this in her life!

What Gert doesn’t know is that the whole of the Bush is coming to the Party. They have opened a Dancing School and there is Music all through the Bush. They are so busy that noone has really noticed that Gert has gone missing.

What a surprise they will get when they come to the Party and Gert is already there. In the meantime, the Bush is getting ready to party.

THE PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL

Well then. I spoke to the Wizards. Talk about EXCITED. Wizards DO get excited. It takes a lot to get a Witch worked up but Wizards can just about get excited about ANYTHING – especially if they think people need them to make something amazing. The PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL made the Wizards so excited that they didn’t go to bed AT ALL. There was so much for them to do.

Wizards know a lot about things. They know things that noone else does. Sometimes they know things that they don’t even know that they know.

The Wizards didn’t know that they knew how to get the Beings from the Unfound Sea to the Party and back home without Trouble finding out. Wizzy the Wizz called in every Wizard from the 2 Towers in Triflora and they got out their books and computers and their memories and started to work out what to do.

They read.

They argued.

They experimented.

They thought and they thought.

And then they made plans and began to DESIGN things.

In Triflora, there are 3 groups of Wizards. I won’t tell you much about them just now because we are getting ready for the party. Wizzy Wizz loves parties and the other 2 Wizards do not like parties at all. Except for the Party for NO REASON AT AL. 

Each of the 3 Wizards lives in his own Tower and each of the 3 Wizards has his own Followers.

The thing is that they do not get on all that well together. Usually. But for the Party – they are COOPERATING.

It took all three of them to invent the Lightship which could zoom into the Unfound Sea,  bring the Beings to the Party and then zoom them back home again.

It took all three of them to design and draw the plans for the Lightship.

It took all of their Followers to build the Lightship.

It took all three of them to place the Magic Shield around the Lightship.

I do wish they would cooperate more often – but Wizards are like that !

Now they are getting ready for the PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL.  I have just been to check on them and let me tell you this. Each Tower is trying to do better than the other two.

They have the most amazing outfits to wear to the Party.

They have just the craziest music and quite a lot of magic tricks and special effects and each Tower has been practicing the Dances of the Wizards.

COMING TO THE PARTY AT POPPY’S PLACE

Triflorians simply love parties and Poppy’s Place is simply the BEST place to have a party. This was a most important party because it was the PARTY FOR NO REASON AT ALL.

Even the Beings from the very middle of the Unfound Sea were coming and they hardly ever came out. It was so difficult to find the Unfound Sea again and so easy to attract the attention of the Trouble.

The Wizards had been at work designing a special airship to get the Beings of the Unfound  Sea to the Party and it seemed to be working very well indeed.

Ev is our next new Member. He is a wonderful person to have in Triflora. He can paddle any kind of canoe or Kayak and know ALL the magic lagoons and rivers. He is also in charge of Nana’s special vehicle, Alfie. He polishes it and keeps it running perfectly.

Ev is kind and clever and Trilfora is very happy to have him come and live there.
