POPPY FOLLOWS SAFFRON AND FERRY ROSE.

PERSON OF INTEREST IS SAFFRON	She was heard to say : I HAVE GOT AN IDEA.
I have followed Saffron to the Ferry Stop. She was seen rowing off in a boat with Ferry Rose. I rang my Father, Mad O’Brian, on my mobile. He said that he had been practising stick fighting with friends on the log across the creek and had not seen Saffron. He is searching Mad Island for her right now. Signed, Poppy. I met Young Mitchell down near the  Ferry Jetty. He says he can handle a boat well enough to follow them. Young Mitchell looks perfectly ordinary but he is a Ferry Boy. That means that he has special powers when it comes to boats and the water. Young Mitchell says that he has a stick which he will put a sail on. He says the sail will take the boat to Ferry Rose. Young Mitchell says that she often takes herself off and they have to go and find her because she is too little to be having big adventures all alone. Just like Saffron. Signed, Poppy.	Young Mitchell and Poppy are going to follow the little girls in Young Mitchell’s sail boat.

A DAY OUT WITH SAFFRON

Saffron loves Triflora. She has plenty of people to play with and some of them have red hair like hers.

As you know, Saffron likes wandering about the Village.

Most days, she takes herself off for a walk and on most days – she has a very good time.

At the moment, she is just a little bit lonesome because the 3 Girls are away in Unkya Guarding the Doorway  and they are 3 of her very best friends.

Yesterday, she tried making a seesaw with Sylvester. They had fun but once was enough.

Today, Poppy has her eyes on Saffron because she heard Saffron say to herself ;

“I have got an idea.”

Nobody in Triflora relaxed when Saffron had ideas and Poppy, who is a very good detective has  decided to follow her today. Poppy is the best cross country runner in Triflora and she can last longer than anyone else when she is following a clue. Poppy has a whole network of Beings who pass messages onto her and tell her what’s happening so I don’t think we need to worry about the Cheery Redhead today.

Let’s see what she is up to.

Saffron stopped a moment and chattered with the little birds.  Signed, Poppy.
This is a sad thing to see. It looks as though Cock Robin is dead. He is just lying there. Jenny Wren tells me that she can look after him and she already has a match lit to warm him up. The Dove is there as well and the Dove will keep things calm. I asked the Linnet about what had happened and she said she thinks it was the shock of falling in love with Jenny Wren that knocked Cock Robin flat on his back. They said to me; “ Keep going, Poppy. We can handle this. It’s a matter for the Birds ! Saffron left a little while ago and she says she has an idea. You can’t let her go wandering around Triflora with an Idea. “ Jenny Wren changed into her human form to mix up the herbs and flowers into medicine for Cock Robin. If he sees her like that he will probably have another attack. Signed, Poppy.
The wedding of Charoline and  and Matteus  was being held in the Tinykin Church down on the river. It looked like a place Saffron might like. I searched everywhere and asked everyone but nobody had seen her.  She must have got away from me while I was talking to the Birds. I shall look around for signs of her. signed, Poppy.
I heard a miaow from the  Ferryman’s House near the jetty on the River.  The Ferry Cat told me that Saffron had taken one of the boats and headed over to Cat and Fiddle Island.  Last time we tried to row across to the Islands, we got into great difficulties. Signed. Poppy.
Here is the Report from that trip:  Poppy and Saffron sneaked down to the Creek with Eric the dog and Mad Flynn. (There are quite a few Mad people on Triflora. Sometimes, Poppy was called Mad Eline and Saffron was called Mad Lola. ) They took a boat and started to row across to get a closer look at the stone wall on the Mad Island. BANG. FLASH. KABOOM. The tiny little creek seemed to turn into a wild river. Waves splashed over them and the boat splashed and bounced. It is not easy to get near a Wizard’s Tower unless you  have been invited. They only just made it back to shore safely.	The Ferry Cat told me that Saffron had talked Ferry Rose into going with her. Ferry Rose is about the same size as Saffron but she has white hair and has spent almost all her life around boats and ships and ferries. The Ferry Cat said they took off very quickly but she doesn’t think the little girls will be able to row as far as Cat and Fiddle Island. Now. This is VERY worrying. I really need to contact my father Mad O’Brian on Mad Island. Saffron loves her Mad Uncle and his Island is much closer to here. She just might have had the idea to go and visit him. Signed. THE WEBMASTER

 

One of the Doorways into Triflora from the World Up Top hasn’t been used for more than 27.000 days. It was one of the very first doorways between the worlds but noone and nothing has come through for all that time.

FORGET YOUR PAST AND IT BECOMES YOUR FUTURE.

The Guardians of the Unkya Doorway have totally forgotten why they are there.

They have forgotten that there are Beings they should not let IN to Triflora  and other Beings that they should not let OUT of Triflora.

The Web Master thought there was nothing for him to do at the Unkya Doorway and went far away. That was before the Skeletons decided to take a trip up to the World on Top. It was before the Guardians took to drinking Mickey’s Blue Drink and way before the Ribble Rabble came to live there.

It was one night when Mickey was dropping some Blue Drink in that she decided things were getting way too bad.  Mick knows about things like that and she knows the BAD STUFF that can happen.  She took one look at what the Guardians and the Ribble Rabble were up to and headed off to bring the Webmaster home.

By the time the WebMaster came home, things were really in a mess and he knew he had a lot of work to do. The very first thing was to get the Skeletons to go back to the Coffins and lie down.

 

The Web Master is a great believer in Cats. He sent Mickey off pretty quick smart to fetch Leox. The Skeletons  were not so cheeky when Lions were around. They know how Lions feel about bones and there isn’t much more to the Skeletons than BONES ! BONES ! BONES !

The WebMaster has an organised mind. He knows how to do one thing at a time. That’s why he began with the Skeletons. He grabbed a bone-breaker to use until Leox arrived. He hoped he wouldn’t need to hurt too many or snap too many bones but he wasn’t letting the Skeletons through the Doorway. Who knows what they would have looked like once their molecules had been rearranged?

Once Leox had the Skeletons heading back to their Grave Yard, WebMaster took a good look at the Unkya Guardians. They were truly a MESS – bigtime.

The were going to need a complete reprogramming.

First, they needed to sleep off whatever it was that was wrong with them. The WebMaster could deal with them when they woke up.  In the Meantime, he had best get some temporary Guardians.

As you know, each Doorway needs 3 Guardians.  Triflora is a great place for the Number 3.

He called in the 3 Girls. The 3 Girls are experts at fixing up Messes.

Delilah Mae looks a bit of a mess herself. Funny that because she just can’t stand Mess around her. Those Unkya Doorway Men are going to be sorry they made such a mess when Delilah Mae gets to them.

Delilah Mae knows how to tell when there is something messy going on that noone else can see. She stands very still, pulls her skirts up over her head and HUMS.  Hmmmmm. Hmmm. Hmm.

Next thing, you know, she goes straight to where the Hidden  Mess is ! I think she will be extremely busy on this Job.

Elspeth Gertrude is very neat and tidy. She is the second one of the 3 Girls.  Elspeth Gertrude has perfect hearing. She hears anyone coming to the Doorway even if they are being very quiet. She can hear WHISPERS.

She will be the perfect temporary Guardian for the Unkya Doorway. She can hear the Whispers of Today and she can hear the Whispers of Yesterday and Tomorrow.

She will be able to hear everything that was said while the Webmaster was away. That could be very important.She will know if anyone has come in or out through the Doorway.

 

The third of the 3 Girls is Amanda Louisa. Amanda wears a long silver cloak made of silk when she is on a job with the 3 Girls. Amanda Louise cries all the time when she is working.

That sounds very sad but it really is not. She cries the Tears of Silver Water that wash away all sadnesses and heartbreaks.

As soon as her tears touch a sad place, they turn into silver twinkles.

The Web Master can go on with his work with the 3 Girls taking care of the Doorway.

Nana is pleased about the 3 Girls but she doesn’t know that the WebMaster has asked them to bring their 3 Cats with them. That will be a surprise for her!

GOOD NEWS STORIES

TRIFLORA is a place of GOOD NEWS. It has its problems but very wonderful things happen in Triflora.

Here are some of the GOOD NEWS STORIES.

 

The Red Bird is happy to fly people to visit their friends and families wherever they are in Triflora. It’s a very good view from up there on his back.	More and more Seashellians are finding one another. They are proud to be Seashellian. It wasn’t always like that.
When it comes to Gardens, Triflora is the place to be. Some of the best gardeners EVER grow some of the best gardens you will ever see. Now, that is really good news!	The last Piece of Good News for tonight is this – Every Being in Triflora  has someone wonderful watching over them. A Fairy or a Spirit of some kind. When you sleep tonight, there will be a spirit taking care of you and a fairy or angel who specially cares for you.

STRANGE THINGS IN TRIFLORA

Many things in Triflora are like the World Up Top but many other things are quite different.  I will take you for a bit of a look around.

STRANGE THING NO 1.

THE  ICE MEN are unusual. They dress in suits and wear good hats and shoes. Almost every day, they go out onto the Ice Lakes and cut ice blocks. One man rides a horse and pulls a sharp blade behind and the other man steers the blade. Its hard work being an Ice Man. I have never worked out what the ice blocks are used for but in the middle of the night, when there is no moon and it’s the middle of Summer and too hot to sleep, I have heard voices calling out; “The Ice Men cometh! The Ice Men cometh!”

Not long after that, the Night cools down and I fall asleep.

STRANGE THING NO 2

Over at Stone Mountain,you can see the Stone Men. There are just the four of them. Every day they try to walk barefooted from the bottom to the top of Stone Mountain.

One their backs, they carry big bags of STONES. Heavy loads of Stone. Every single day, they do the same thing and they have never once made it to the top.

Stone Mountain is not an easy Mountain – at all. Its no use asking them what they’re doing because they will not answer you. Very Unusual indeed.

STRANGE THING NO 3.

Now, these fellows don’t look too strange but they really are. They Cackle.

One starts to cackle and then the next one joins in. Before long they are all cackling.

Nobody knows what they are cackling about. Noone knows what makes them start and noone knows how to make them stop.

STRANGE THING NO 4.

Children  run about all over the place in Triflora. We have a lot of Little Ones as well, who have come here in very strange ways and many of them don’t have family with them.

That’s where the Yaks come in. If you see a Yak in Triflora, you can be sure that there is a Child somewhere nearby and if you see a child who looks as if they are alone, you can be sure that a Yak will be watching them and making sure that they are safe.  The Yaks are VERY good friends to the Children.  It is a strange friendship, the Yaks and the Children.

STRANGE THING NO 5.

Take a look at Nettle-Anne. Noone complains about bedtime like Nettle-Anne. She is good enough in the daytime. She will eat whatever she is given and she doesn’t fuss over her clothes or shoes.

But when it comes to BED,  Nettle-Anne is strange and difficult – all at once. She will not sleep unless she has at least 19 mattresses and even then she will start yelling.

“There is a pea in my bed! There is a pea in my bed!”

Nana has just about had enough of Nettle-Anne! She doesn’t care how unusual Nettle is. She says Nettle is just a pain.

“I’ll give her a pea in her bed!” says Nana. I’m not sure what she means by that and I don’t want to think about it.

Billy Griffin looks terrifying. He lives in a cave and  has no friends. He waves a huge rock at anyone who comes close. He looks dangerous but he is not. He is just embarrassed at his odd appearance. Kindness works best with Billy but do not go too close in case he slips with that rock in his hand.  Just say “ Billy, you look very nice today. “ and he will not hurt you at all.	The Barber down Hairy Street looks like a nice man. Very smart Beings have come to him for haircuts. The Barber is  a little tiny bit dangerous. He WILL NOT stop cutting y0ur hair when you tell him to. He doesn’t cut you or make you bleed but he does make you look like a twit when he cuts your hair. If I were you, I would get my hair cut someplace else.

THE RED CAP PISKIES are a little bit dangerous. They have bad tempers and they don’t like many people. They kick and punch and yell rude words. They are a little bit dangerous. The way to handle the Red Cap Piskies is to ignore them and keep moving. You might feel a pinch and a punch but they are really very small and not very strong. Just keep moving along. DO NOT TRY TO TALK TO THEM.	The Shadow Impchkins are a BIT DANGEROUS. They live underground in the Impchkins Forest and could be quite dangerous but their Lady Emmaline keeps a close watch on them. They are a bit dangerous because they don’t like people coming into the Impchkins’ Forest and because they are very clever and know how to make traps. They know how to vanish underground as well.

These three are a bit more dangerous .  They have even been known to kill one of Rose’s Dragons for no reason at all.  They are a bit more dangerous because there are three of them. One is strong. One is beautiful. One is very clever.  Take care if you meet any of them while you are wandering round Triflora. The way to handle them is to ring P.O.P.P.Y. IMMEDIATELY! Do not let them know you have recognised them. If things get nasty, pull out your Kazoo and play it as loud as you can. None of them can stand the Kazoo!	The Wind God of the South is RATHER DANGEROUS. He is powerful and he comes from the Ice Worlds.  Sometimes, he simply forgets what he is doing and blows a little harder than usual. That can be quite dangerous but he really is RATHER DANGEROUS when he gets worked up and angry. He likes to bring Hail and rain along with him as well as Lightning and Thunder. Rather Dangerous indeed. If you feel the Wind God of the South starting up, you need to get into shelter as soon as possible.

The Beings who live in the WHITE CASTLE are pretty dangerous. They only wear white. Their skin is white and their hair is white and even their blood is white. They have strange white eyes with white eyelashes and eyebrows and are really not well-balanced at all. They are Pretty Dangerous. The Castle looks safe. It looks like a good place to go but it is  not.  It is pretty dangerous. White can be like that. Just don’t go there. If yo0u see a shining white castle, keep on riding. Do not turn and make your way up to it.  Say to yourself;  “ Not everything White is Good!”	The Nightmare Fairies are TRULY DANGEROUS. They come  during the night and hold hands and dance and bring the worst Dreams. The Nightmares they bring are not TRUE at all but the Nightmare Fairies make them seem real and people wake up frightened and sick and sometimes they never get back to normal again. The Spiders will weave you a silken dreamcatching web if y0u ask them and not one Nightmare Fairy will be able to come into your Sleeping. If ever a Nightmare fairy does slip into yo0ur sleep – remember this – they are LIARS. Everything is OKAY. Do not believe them for one moment!

The Horse Thief is VERY DANGEROUS. We do not even know what he looks like. He has captured some wonderful horses and vanished with them. He has ropes of golden chain and some kind of very dangerous magic. We cannot tell you much about him at all and we cannot tell you how to handle him. In fact, it c0uld be a she or an it and there could be more than one. He leaves behind anyone he doesn’t want. He leaves them wrapped in gold foil and he shrinks them to a tiny size like the charms on a charm bracelet. VERY DANGEROUS INDEED.	The Ice Maiden is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. We cannot tell you much about her either. Poppy thinks that one day, she and the Ice Maiden will have to sort this out between them. Poppy has been thinking about ways to defeat the Ice Maiden  but she doesn’t know enough ab0ut her yet. She might need Mickey or the Art of Wall to help her.In the meantime, keep your eyes open and stay out of Icy Places. She is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

10/10 IS DEADLY DANGEROUS.

VILLAGE LIFE GOES ON

Brownies do love Village Life. They like being busy and they like having things to do. John Joseph is probably the smartest dresser of all the Brownies. He even adds colour sometimes. Not many Brownies do that. They all wear BROWN.

But John Joseph adds “touches of colour”. That’s what he calls his blue hat and his silver bells and his bright red shoes.

He is VERY fussy about keeping House. He lives with the Oddling Dreamer. The Dreamer does a lot of sitting and thinking and dreaming and he doesn’t have to worry about the House because John Joseph keeps it clean and neat and even adds a vase of flowers every single morning.

Gardens grow all round the Village. Plants of all kinds.

Do be very careful when you come to visit.

Some plants are actually Homes for Fairies and Flower Children and other Beings.

Just the other day, Katriona heard a tiny wee noise in a vine the grows on her cottage wall and when she looked under the leaves, she saw a Butterfly Fairy just sitting there and singing.

 

In the middle of the Village is a well. A well is a deep hole in the ground and it goes down to water. You can put a bucket on a rope and lower it all the way down, fill it up and bring it back to the top. Wells are a bit old fashioned these days but Triflora has a few.  Nerissa lives at the bottom of a Well. 

The Well in the middle of the Village can take you down to Nerissa’s house – if you are a Seashellian or another kind of Mer Person.

The Well in the Middle of the Village has the sweetest and best water in all of Triflora.

The Well in the Middle of the Village has the best and sweetest Well Keeper in all of Triflora.  Her name is Muriel. She wears pretty clothes in bright colours and her hair is so long that it touches her feet. Muriel likes to send the bucket deep into the Well and bring back a fresh drink of Water for People and Beings. Muriel gives people a drink from her silver jug and they ALWAYS feel better.

Muriel made herself a promise years ago. She promised herself that she would ask NO questions of the people who came to the Well. The Drinkers usually had a secret of some kind but Muriel would not ask them to tell her anything. So, she just smiles and gives them a drink and listens if they want to talk.  She doesn’t tell other people’s secrets to anyone at all.

Muriel is VERY wise and People and Beings trust her without even knowing why.

The Cats are very happy with their own Island. They come and go whenever they want and no Cat has to live in a mess anymore. Cats do not like Mess. They like things to be IMMACULATE. They are even fussier than John Joseph, the Brownie with a touch of colour. If anyone tries to make a cat sleep outside or in a messy place, the Cat just says Goodbye and Miaow and takes the Ferry across to Cat and Fiddle Island. There is ALWAYS a place for a Cat on the Island.

At the edge of the Village are some of the Farms. Triflora water is good stuff and so is Triflora’s milk. Milking cows is another thing that Brownie John Joseph does REALLY well. It seems to be second nature to them.

Show a John Joseph a cow and before you know it, he has a milking stool out, a milking apron on and he is filling a cup with the milk faster than anyone else in Triflora can even imagine.

I don’t know how John Jo makes the milk taste so good. It could be the strange Brownie milking song he sings or it could be the tender way he talks to the Cows. 

John Joseph is very popular in the Village.  Everyone loves him and John Jo loves them all.

A DAY AT MUMMA KATE’S

Nana has decided to go out to Mumma Kate’s for the day. That’s an easy thing for her to do. Nana goes pretty much wherever she wants to.

But Krazy Klaud is being a nuisance as usual. He has the idea that he is King of Triflora. Noone knows when he went Krazy but Krazy he is.

“You are NOT going into the Unbearable Forest!”  says Klaud.

“Poop to you!”  says Nana.

The Rose and the Poppy often look at Nana and waggle their fingers at her and say ; “Nana Words!!!!!!!”

But even the two girls say “Poop” to Klaud. He’s too crazy to be polite to.

Nana has a bag of goodies packed for the day. She’s flying in to Mumma Kate’s this time. Nana has several ways in which she can travel but its hard to beat flying on that old Broomstick. A bit old fashioned perhaps but Nana is fond of it. She just wishes it weren’t white. Nana does not like WHITE.

There are days when she knows just how the Impkins feel about all those WHITE cranes.

Nana loves her days visiting Mumma Kate and Saffron. Some days they see Wobblies and Goannas.

Kate makes lunch. She  makes the same thing for Saffron as she does for Nana and bosses them both around.

It’s a rather good flight out along the river. Nana’s broomstick doesn’t fly very high and had a few problems stopping in any kind of hurry so she just cruises a little way above the water and waves to the Fish and Mer People if she’s in a good mood.

Today is MayDay and Nana loves MayDay. It’s a very good day to visit Family.

Log Boy Louis learns the Secrets of Triflora

Welcome to Ev.

Ev is our next new Member. He is a wonderful person to have in Triflora. He can paddle any kind of canoe or Kayak and know ALL the magic lagoons and rivers. He is also in charge of Nana’s special vehicle, Alfie. He polishes it and keeps it running perfectly.

Ev is kind and clever and Trilfora is very happy to have him come and live there.

 

SHAKEY COWS

Triflora has been shut down for a long time now. All the doorways have been blocked and strange things have been happening. The time has come for us to begin telling you about them.
