And sometimes, in fact – quite a lot of times- the Beings of Triflora are learning NEW Tricks. New things that they can do.
Sometimes, they have Old Tricks that need some more practice.
That’s where the Circus comes into it. People think the Circus is just for fun – but it is a lot more than that!

At the CIRCUS, there are EXPERTS.
Melanie MacDougall LOVES donkeys. Melanie has long curling hair and a smile like sun shine and the donkeys love her as much as she loves them.
They all live in the Farmyard.
The Farmyard is a happy place.he Pig and the Duck. She sings and the grunt and quack. The Donkeys hee haw.
Stafford lives next door to Basil and his family. Wee Stafford is very fond of coconuts. Staff also wants to learn to climb coconut trees but he just doesn’t seem to be very good at it.
Basil’s chooks and goat are learning to read but they cannot teach Stafford to climb trees. They have taught him to open the coconuts and the Goat is happy to headbutt the palm tree till the coconuts fall down – but none of that helps Stafford to climb the long slippery trunk.
Melanie MacDougall lives with her three Aunts. They are OLD aunts. Friends of Nana’s. Melanie brings wool home to them each night. Wool from the goats and the sheep and the alpacas.
After dinner, the three old Aunts weave the wool into warm cloth. They spin and they weave and they cackle and they chuckle.
The Old Aunts are pretty old-fashioned and they make Melanie wear the silliest clothes to bed.
Every night, Melanie hopes that none of her friends come to visit because she does NOT want any of them to see her in her weird pyjamas.
Melanie likes to go to bed VERY EARLY.

Out on the 3rd Island, Robbie the Cruiser is still wearing far too many clothes. People have been dancing around niggardy to show him how good it is to wear no clothes when it is as hot as 3rd island but Robbie the Cruiser just hides out and will not take even his boots off. The main problem is that he has been wearing them for a VERY long time. |

Another King has shown up. The Fiddlers tricked him into the Palace. The King is a cheerful sort of Chap but he still thinks he can give ORDERS. If he doesn’t stop doing that, he will never be allowed out of the Palace. In the Meantime, he stays merry no matter what happens. |
The 3rd Island is watched over by a VERY GREAT and GOOD spirit. He was one of Nana’s favourite people and now he is one of her favourite Spirits. She calls him Alec Donald. A.D. He laughs and laughs and says words like niggardy. Whenever Alec Donald sees Robbie the Cruiser, he starts to laugh and laugh and the Island rumbles and the waves roll up on the beach. It’s a happy place to be.

THE PRINCESS
Once upon a time there was a princess who was called Katelyn who lived in the country in old house with her family.
But Katelyn and her family wanted to move to Canberra. But her family couldn’t afford a carriage to take them and their stuff to the city.
So Katelyn had to go out to get work to get money for a castle and a carriage.
A month after Katelyn left for work she came back with $ 4, ooo so her family were very happy and so was Katelyn.
In the end Katelyn and her family lived in a castle in Canberra so they were very happy.
There once was a princess called Priscilla who lived in a big tall castle with her mum and dad.
But one day Priscilla asked her mum and dad if they could move to the country so her parents thought about it then they said that they could.
So they lived in the country for a while.
They started to miss the castle so in the end they all went back to the castle and lived happily ever after.

The Snail.
There once was a snail called Fred who lived in a person’s vegetable garden.
But one day he said to himself that he wanted to live in a nice wet place.
He looked everywhere but he still couldn’t find a good place to live.
So the next day Fred left the garden so he can look for a good home.
Then, he saw another snail so he went over and asked the other snail if he knew where a light wet place was so the snail thought for a minute then he said to Fred “Yes! I do… Follow me and I will show you. “
Then finally, he had a new friend called Rango and a new wet home. So he was very happy.
Nobody knew where Lamonta was going to.
Nobody knew how she was going to find Trouble.
Only the Fast Flying Beings and the ones with long legs or some other way of moving very quickly could keep up with her.
She took strange paths through Forests.
She crossed rather big hills.
She jumped clear across quite wide creeks.
She shook the ground so hard that all the plates fell off the shelves and broke in the Land of the Little Ones.
And she kept right on singing.
Over and over, she sang it. Then all the Gentle Beings who were following Lamonta began singing it with her.
HERE WE COME TRUBBL. READY OR NOT.
The Cows heard Lamonta coming. They were not the Ordinary Cows. They were the Cows who jumped over the Moon. They knew Trouble was up to something because they had taken a look on one of their Moon Jumps and they had seen Beings moving about Triflora who should NOT be moving about at all. That meant TROUBLE.
So they took off after Lamonta. Jumping over trees and across creeks and singing along with all the other Beings.
HERE WE COME TRUBBL. READY OR NOT.
By now there were a lot of Followers. Even the Little Ones had grabbed rides when they could. They were pretty mad as well because Trouble picks on Little Ones. Sometimes she would creep out with her Creatures and knock a Little House down for no reason at all.
HERE WE COME TRUBBL. READY OR NOT. They sang in their little, tiny voices.
Some of Trouble’s Friends do not look like Trouble at all. Melinda Milarky MacDougalson did not look BAD. But she was very BAD.
Her two red bears did not look bad but they were very bad.
They liked eating bones. Black Bones. Melinda Milarky carried a basket and wore a hat. That made her look like a nice girl but she was not a nice girl. The basket was filled with Black Bone and under the hat she had no hair at all. Under the hat she had tattoos which said : I AM A FRIEND OF TROUBLE.
Nana and the Girls were flying as fast as they could to catch up. They did not want Lamonta to get hurt by Trouble or any of Trouble’s creatures. They knew how dangerous the Red Bears were and they knew Lamonta was really just a little girl – even if she was LARGE.
By the time the Posaronas caught up with Lamonta, she had 100s of Gentle Followers and everyone and everything was singing the Trubbl song.
HERE WE COME TRUBBL. READY OR NOT.
NANA WAS AMAZED.
ROSE WAS AMAZED.
POPPY WAS AMAZED.
SAFFRON WAS AMAZED.
All of Trouble’s Creatures were heading back to the Ice as fast as they could go. Terrible shrieks were bubbling up through the Ice Water every time Lamonta started to sing and stamp her feet.
The Little Star Pixies danced and sang and sprinkled Stardust on top of the Creatures as they ran away.
The Cows leapt over every moon they could find.
Lamonta stood at the very edge of the Ocean and called out
“You stay down there in your yukky cave, Trubbl and I won’t trubbl you unless you trubbl me ! And my Dollies ! ”
Just then Melinda Milarky and the two Red Bears ran straight past Lamonta and straight into the water. They were screaming and howling.
JUST STOP THAT SINGING AND WE PROMISE WE WILL NEVER COME BACK!
“Well. That was AMAZING. I don’t think we need to do anything else”
said Poppy. And they all SMILED. Something AMAZING always happens when the Gentle People get together.
I CAN’T. WE CAN.
So Rose and Saffron and Poppy and Nana took to the air and set out for Home.

An angry Larjkins Child is something AMAZING. The Larjikins are the Casual Observers of Triflora and they don’t often get really angry.
BUT WHEN THEY DO …. !
As soon as she had hidden her Dolls in a safe place, Lamonta set out looking for Trouble. Larjikins are not as big as Giants but they are still BIG and they are extremely HEAVY.
The ground shuddered and shook when Lamonta’s angry feet touched it. Little Quakes spread out from where her heels thumped down.
The air rippled and whistled and blew as she walked along swinging her arms. Each time she breathed in, the air was sucked back and each time she breathed out, a little tornado whooshed out.
“What in the pixelated world was that ?”
said Pixelito. The Lamonta tornado had bounced him clear out of the sky and onto the rocks. Pixelito shook himself all over and flew after the strange big little girl who had shaken his world. Lamonta was singing as she went along. Her Voice was also LARGE. Something like a volcano erupting.
The baby Eaglets were so scared they opened their beaks and howled and howled. Eaglets look pretty wicked but they are actually very sensitive and very gentle. Mother Eaglet tried to calm them down but then she saw the BONES. And then she saw Little Mannikins crying over the bones.
said Mother Eaglet.
She left Little Mannikins to take care of her babies and followed the sound of Lamonta thumping along.
Back in Larjikin House, everyone was waking up and looking for Lamonta. Sure enough, she had left a note. The note said;
“I AM GONE TO LOOK FOR TRUBBL”
Everywhere she went, Beings heard her singing
HERE I COME, TRUBBL. READY OR NOT.
Everywhere she went, the ground shook and the air trembled.
Everywhere she went, Beings stopped what they were doing and followed her. All the Gentle Beings. There’s nothing quite as scarey as Gentle Beings when they’re roused up.

There was now only one Posarona left to do. Poppy and Saffron and Rose and Nana still had to do something AMAZING.
They were in no hurry because they love their time out. They love exploring and talking and just being together.
They could take as long as they wanted to choose something AMAZING to do.
The POSARONAS set off to enjoy themselves. The Girls laughed and danced and ate the fruit from the trees. They chattered with birds and swam in creeks. Nana followed along behind them. She was WATCHING.
The first night of their Wandering, they decided to stay with one of the Larjikin families. Noone would call the Larjikins, “ Giants” but they certainly are BIG. All four of the Posaronas slept in one bed and still had room left over. They all had a fine dinner and sat around talking till quite late. The Three Girls went upstairs to bed and Nana stayed to have a Yaan with the older Larjikins.
Now, the Larjikins are also known as THE CASUAL OBSERVERS. They are BIG, very BIG – but like Little Old People – noone seems to notice them. The Larjikins casually walk about Triflora. They don’t bother hurrying and they just observe. They just look and see what’s going on. After the Young Ones had gone to bed, the Old Ones took time to discuss some of the Observations the Larjikins had been making.
Grandmother Larjikin thought that most things were going very well – BUT she had a couple of worries.
“ I think we might be seeing THE FIRST SIGNS OF TROUBLE! “ said she.
“ Just what I was thinking. “ said Nana. “ What have you good people observed? “
“ Just small things that don’t seem quite right. The First Signs of Trouble. She is VERY sneaky, as you know. Here are the things we have been observing.”
Nana thanked the Larjikins and took the notes they had made. She climbed into bed with the Three Girls and the Posaronas took a good look at the FIRST SIGNS OF TROUBLE.

She had climbed up on the Mantlepiece ( where she is NOT allowed to be) and took a look into the Mirror. SOMETHING was looking back out of the Mirror and it was looking straight at her. That was not a Good Sign. |
Wee Chatterer says that some of the trees are shaking and trembling when the Birds land on the branches. That is not a good sign. |

We know that Trouble has her Cave someplace deep under the Ocean of Turmoil. Brother Barnacle Rock sits at the edge of the Ocean. He is a Marine Larjikin. Brother Barnacle Rock has seen strange comings and goings of the Amphibians. He actually asked Charlie what he was doing but Charlie shook and trembled and just said “Not much!” Brother Barnacle Rock does NOT believe Charlie for one moment. |
Petrina from the Shimmering People appeared here in Larjikin house just this morning to tell us that she had seen a few signs that Trouble was on the Move again. The Shimmerers were meeting strange Beings when they shimmered and the Beings were NOT friendly.

The Birds have seen men in war clothes coming into the Forests. Some of them offer seed to the Birds but the Seed does NOT look right and it does not smell right, so the Birds have not eaten any of it. Looks like Trouble to them. |
Lamonta Larjikin is the most observant of our Casual Observers. She is washing every one of her dolls and all their clothes. She says she is going to hide them someplace safe until Trouble has passed. Lamonta says she has seen one Sign Too Many. Trouble IS coming. |
LAMONTA GETTING READY TO DEAL WITH TROUBLE.
Now, Lamonta is a big girl. She is a true Larjikin. Lamonta is also a Redhead like Saffron and they are pretty wild and rather tough.
She is VERY angry about Trouble. Lamonta has 3 Dolls and she LOVES them. She likes to play with them in the Sun. She likes to take her Dolls to the Beach.
She does NOT like anyone or anything who makes life hard for her 3 Dolls.
Lamonta is putting her boots on. She says she will teach Trouble not to bother her or her 3 Dolls.
There is a sign at Larjikin House. It says;
NEVER TROUBLE TROUBLE UNTIL TROUBLE TROUBLES YOU.

While the POSARONA was visiting the Birds, the White Owl had a word with them. It seems that the Farmyard Animals wanted to learn to read but they needed a Teacher. Well- it looks like two needs can be taken care of in one go.
The Farmyard Animals needs a reading teacher.
Wee Stafford Stultifier needs a job on a Farm. he loves Farms but the other thing he loves is READING.
One of the Gatherers went off to fetch Wee Stafford and bring him to the Farmyard.
We all think its going to be a happy Yard.
No. 6 : Be very OBSERVANT and notice something other Beings haven’t noticed.
Rose and Poppy and Nana and Saffron left the Tree of Wisdom and set out for their 6th Posarona.
They had decided to walk and they had decided to wear their “NOW YOU SEE ME – NOW YOU DON’T” cloaks.
Sometimes, its easier to notice things when things aren’t noticing you.
Sometimes, it is easier to notice things when you are walking quite slowly. And not chattering.
The POSARONAs walked for only a little while. They were passing a little cottage and outside they spotted this bunch of critters.
I will not tell you what they noticed. See if you can find it.
Next Posarona, they will be doing something about it. Perhaps Poppy and her Detectives will do something before then.
Nana and Saffron and Rose and Poppy didn’t let the Critters know that they had noticed anything at all. They just walked on. BUT THEY HAD NOTICED.
The POSARONAs had a very simple plan that was also quite Remarkable. They had heard that some of the Birds were very angry and upset about being called “BIRD-BRAINED”. They thought it was insulting.
The Posaronas had heard that many of the Birds were ashamed to be called “ BIRD-BRAINED”.
In fact, things were getting serious amongst the Birds.
The rooster had stopped cock-a-doodle-dooing.
The Pelicans were not filling their bills with anything.
If the Birds did anything wrong, they would just say;
We can’t help it. We are just BIRD-BRAINED. We are not very clever at all.
The OWL is known everywhere as being very, very, very WISE. If a bird-brain can be THAT wise – then a BIRD BRAIN is a good thing to be have.
It was a remarkable meeting. The Birds listened and told their own stories and by the end, they all had T-shirts that said “ BIRD-BRAINED AND PROUD OF IT. “

That night, Nana and the Girls slept in the Guests’ Nests of the Tree of Wisdom. It had been a remarkable day. The Birds seemed to be proud to be Birds and the Bush was filled with Birdsong. When the Girls and Nana had fallen asleep, Little birds fluttered up to them and covered them with the very best feathers that they could spare. Good Night, Posaronas.

The 3rd thing the Posaronas do is SOMETHING VERY SENSIBLE. They had a very SENSIBLE thing that they all wanted to do. They decided to visit each of the Doorways. It was a very sensible thing to do because the Doorways are so important. They keep people out and they let people in. The Guardians at the Doorways protect Triflora from many things. The Posaronas wanted to thank them all and see if there was anything they wanted or any problems they were having.
The Posaronas wanted to check and make sure that everything was working just perfectly. They had repair magic in their Posarona bags – just in case there was anything wrong. And they had brought small gifts for all the Guardians.
It was a very sensible thing to do and they all had a grand time. All the Doorways were working perfectly. All the Guardians were well and happy. Even the Unkya Doorway was in order. Nana and her 3 Girls spent a very happy and sensible night with the 3 Girls of the Unkya Doorway. Being SENSIBLE can be a most pleasant way to be.
The word of Posarona has reached the ears of the Farmyard animals.
Terence Toad had told his cousin Willoughby about the encounter on the Log Bridge and Willoughby was telling the Farmyard animals. Little do they know that the next Posarona is AWESOME.
The farmyard Critters are so excited that they are babbling and cackling and whistling. They LOVE Posarona Time. They just hope and wish that the next visit is to the Farmyard.
Well – they just might get their wish and it just might be AWESOME!!!!!!!
It didn’t look Awesome to begin with. It just looked like a little old lady with a jug. The farmyard animals thought it was an ordinary old lady. They were very kind to her because she looked very old and very poor and very tired.
Not one of them guessed that it was Nana.
Not one of them guessed that the Posaronas had come to visit because they LOVED the Farmyard Animals.
Nana said to them ( in a little Old Lady’s Voice) ;
Can I please sit here for a little while? I am SO tired.
They quickly gave her a seat on their bench and made sure she was comfortable. She put the jug down on the bench beside her and then she smiled.
Well – the liquid in the jug began to bubble and bounce. It bubbled right up and out the top of the jug. It was BLUE – that strange Trifloran Blue that smells of magic and mystery.
The blue liquid flowed out like a river and the animals hopped onto the bench with Nana.
They thought they could hear Music. They thought they could see three ships. They thought they could see three people.
But HOW could three women and three ships come out of a tiny jug of blue liquid ?
THIS IS AWESOME !
It was Rose, Poppy and Saffron. Poppy really can play the Fiddle and Saffron can sing in a language that ALL the animals understand. Rose can dance even on a ship sailing along the Blue Liquid. They had written a song for the Farmyard ! And their NOW YOU SEE ME NOW YOU DON’T CLOAKS had shrunken them to fit inside Nana’s jug. As soon as they threw the Cloaks off, the water let loose and the girls began to grow bigger and bigger. They had as much magic as they needed to make it an awesome day for the Animals.
Its easy to do something Outrageous but the Posaronas do Outrageous things that make people happy. That’s not so easy to do.
The Posaronas do outrageous things that are Helpful. That’s not easy either.
They headed to Cat and Fiddle Island because Nana was going to do two outrageous things at once.
1. She was going to be very nice to the Cat. She knew that would make the Girls happy.
2. She was going to let the Cat teach her to play the Fiddle. That was outrageous because Nana doesn’t play any musical instruments at all – most especially she doesn’t play instruments with strings – EVER.
( Do not tell the Girls but Nana was smiling a little to herself because someone had told her that the strings on a fiddle were made from cat gut. )
The Girls were on Cat and fiddle Island to have cloaks made by the TINYKINS. The Cloaks are called NOW YOU SEE ME-NOW YOU DON’T.
Up in the Ice, one of the Ice Bears has gone nuts. She has decided she is Queen of the Ice Bears. Now, EVERYONE knows that Triflora does not have Queens and Kings.
There are Beings who think they are KIngs or Queens.
There are Beings who were Kings and Queens before they came to Triflora.
There are Beings whose family had been Kings and Queens.
BUT THERE ARE NO KINGS AND QUEENS ON TRIFLORA ANYMORE.
Triflora is what Nana calls – A DIVINE ANARCHY.
When someone won’t or can’t give up being a King or a Queen, they are given a home in the Royal Palace where they can wander about and do whatever they like – just so long as they don’t go around bossing anyone around getting uppity. They can even wear their crowns if they want.
The problem with the Ice Bear who thinks she is the Queen, is that she has talked the other Ice Bears into believing her. They are not thinking straight at all. As we all know Ice Bears can behave in the most peculiar ways. It is going to take something OUTRAGEOUS to fix this one up and the Posonaras have an Outrageous Plan.
The trick is to get Beloise off the Ice and into the Royal Palace without causing any more problems than necessary. Nana has decided to dress as an Ice Bear and play Music to Beloise while the Girls sneak up in their NOW YOU SEE ME NOW YOU DON’T Cloaks and lead that silly Ice Bear into a Bear Trap made of Spider Silk.
Nana didn’t get the hang of the Fiddle so the Cat has given her a little harp. It sounded so OUTRAGEOUS that Beloise just froze with shock when the Music started. When Nana started to sing as well as play the Harp, Beloise didn’t need to be tricked by the Cloaked Girls into the Bear Trap. She ran straight in and passed out. The 23 Flying Spiders flew off as fast as they could all the way to the Royal Palace where the thick stone walls protected all of them from the Singing and Harp Playing.
Whoa !! That was fully OUTRAGEOUS ! said the Bear and the Spiders.
The 3 Girls took the earplugs out of their ears, looked at one another and sighed:
Whoa! That was not just Outrageous. That was HORRIFYING!
But they did not tell Nana. They just hugged her – Bear Suit and All – and said;
Well done ! Nana. Well done! You are NOT a Duffer after all – no matter what Mad O’Brian says.
Meanwhile,the Cat had put down the Fiddle and was tiptoeing away. The Cat didn’t want anyone to think it was her fault that Nana played the Harp like that. She thought she might just go and play with Savage Dogs for a while. It would be better than teaching Music to a little old lady who didn’t even say thank you.
TEACHING violin is never a lot of fun for someone who plays as well as the Cat does but its not usually this OUTRAGEOUS.

The Posaronas were well pleased with their Peace Bringing. They left the Log Bridge and dived down into the Water. One of the best parts of their Helpful Holiday was their time as Mermaids. Soon, all four of them were swimming and diving and giggling – looking for something outrageous to do.
They were heading to Cat and Fiddle Island. Triflora is a place where many outrageous things happen. Many outrageous Beings live there. Many people do outrageous things.
The Posaronas are wondering what outrageous thing they can do and they are going to have a talk to the Cat. Strange things happen on the Island.
“PoSaRoNa.”Most often, when an emergency alarm goes off, its because something bad or dangerous has happened.
But when the POSARONA alarm goes off and the whisper reaches the ears of Poppy, Saffron, Rose and Nana, it does NOT mean that anything bad or dangerous has happened.
When the POSARONA whisper is sent out by Marigold, it means that its time for Poppy and Saffron and Nana and Rose to take a holiday together. Not just any holiday. A Helpful Holiday.
When Nana and the Girls set out on a PoSaRoNa, they have 8 things to do before their PoSaRoNa is over.
These are the 8 things they need to do on a POSARONA.
When they are on a POSARONA, they bring their Posarona 
Bags with them. Each bag has different things in it and you can be sure there’s a good deal of magic in there. Marigold has sent the whisper out and the four of them are on Nana’s Tower rooftop and ready to fly!
The POSARONAs can change into anything they want. They can travel in lots of different ways.
But they always start by FLYING from the top of the Tower.
They always start by laughing because they LOVE getting away together – just the four of them.
They always start by singing. It’s a happy time for a helpful holiday.
They never know how long a POSARONA will take because some jobs are very quick and others are longer. Some Good Deeds are just little ones and some are VERY big.

1. PEACEBRINGERSThe first thing the POSARONAs came across was a little disturbance of the Peace. They were just flying down low over the Creek when they saw Lappy Rabbit and Terence Toad at the Log Bridge. Both were dressed in their best Coffee at Poppy’s Place Clothes and they were both heading in the same direction. They are usually very good friends so it was a surprise to hear them YELLING.
It was even more of a surprise to see them pushing and shoving. It was actually a SHOCK to see Terence use his walking stick to hurtle Lappy into the water. It was a bigger shock to see Terence sitting on the log and smiling while Lappy tried to swim. Rabbits are not the BEST swimmers in Triflora. The POSARONA swooped down and set to work to bring Peace. First of all they pulled Lappy out of the water and sat him down on the Log Bridge beside Terence. Its not easy to bring peace to a Dead Bunny. Then the POSARONA went into action. It was TIME TO BRING PEACE. POPPY did the Detective work. She asked question after question till she found out what had REALLY been happening. It turned out that Lappy had been teasing Terence about living half of his life in the water. Lappy had been CROAKING at Terence. Now, Terence is not at all ashamed of being amphibious. It’s a wonderful thing to be. But he did not like being teased so he shoved Lappy into the water and then said:
Very nasty indeed. ROSE used her dancing and singing to create a peaceful atmosphere. The 2 PeaceBreakers looked rather surprised when she began dancing right there on the water and along the log but it certainly stopped their complaining. They had never seen anything like it. SAFFRON waited till they were calm and then she climbed onto the log and sat right in the middle of the Rabbit and the Frog and had a good talk with them in Bunny Speak and Frog Croak. Soon, all three of them were holding hands and things were peaceful again. NANA was very pleased with her girls. They were excellent PEACE BRINGERS. But just to make sure that it would be a Lasting Peace, she turned and look straight at Lappy and straight at Terence – and THEN – SHE RAISED HER LEFT EYEBROW and gave them THE LOOK. |
Poppy had sent a message back to her Place as soon as she had finished asking questions. Poppy’s People are in most place in Triflora and the message passed back as quickly as a rabbit can fall into a creek. Before long a little cart came along and Lappy and Terence were given a lift all the way to the Village.
Its one thing to Bring Peace and another thing to Keep the Peace.
Cherie, the White Horse and Sweet Selina would keep an eye on these two rascals for a day or two.
The POSARONA had completed the first one of their Missions. They all smiled and hugged and clapped hands and said TEAMWORK!
Every now and then 
a Whisper ripples through Triflora. The whisper is
“PoSaRoNa.”
Sometimes, Marigold brings the Message. Its Marigold who decides when its time for POSARONA. The PoSaRoNa people are Poppy, Saffron, Rose and Nana.
As soon as they hear the whisper, each one stops whatever she is doing, grabs her PoSaRoNa bag and gets to the top of Nana’s Tower as soon as she possibly can.
POSARONA is a kind of an emergency. POSARONA is kind of Urgent.
POSARONA TIME means that it is URGENT for Poppy, Safffron, Rose and Nana to get out and about in Triflora and bring some emergency happiness to the Beings they meet.

The Horses’ Poster has gone up all over Triflora.
It is making a big difference. Nobody much had realised what was happening to the Horses. Now that they do, everyone is shocked. They don’t expect to see anything cruel in Triflora. Poppy has sent her People out to see what’s happening and sure enough, first thing they saw on the edge of the Village were these three men. Just look at them. Smoking cigars and looking bossy.
They have whips in their hands to hit the Horses.
They have boots with hard heels to kick the Horses in the side.
Poppy’s People put an end to THAT !
Riding a Horse with boots and a whip is NO WAY TO TRAVEL!
Travelling around Triflora is not always easy – but that is NO excuse to take advantage of anyone else.

Red Fox gets around very well. He moves quickly and quietly. He can even jump from rock to rock to cross a creek – but this creek is at the rapids and it looks like Red will not be able to jump far enough to cross it. He will need to find another way to go. |
Red is looking for another way around the creek. He is moving very sneakily. There is no reason for him to move sneakily. Its just what Foxes seem to do. |

Enrico travels on all four of his legs. He is very big indeed and can make his way through all kinds of country. Emma Jane Lafitte is very small. She has only two legs and Enrico feels very sorry for her. So, whenever he sees Emma Jane Lafitte trying to walk someplace, Enrico starts to smile, reaches down with his trunk and picks her up by her ponytail. “ I do NOT want to travel in your trunk! Put me down!” |

Ships and boats are used for a lot of travelling in Triflora. They are a most interesting way to travel and many of the Sailors are interesting as well. Except for the Buccaneers. A Buccaneer is a type of pirate. They have a tendency to swashbuckle. That means that they swagger and brag and tell very long and untrue stories about their adventures. I would rather travel on the back of a Shark than travel with a Buccaneer. They SHOW OFF. |

Dragons, of course, travel mostly by flying. Just the other day, one of Rose’s Dragon Messengers came into the Village to let Poppy know that Rose would be over for Dinner that night. Well – he got to the edge of the Village and started walking because he is very polite and doesn’t like flapping his way over the tops of People’s houses. Guess who he met? The same 3 Men who had been riding the Horses. They were dressed in different clothes and they were not smoking their cigars but they still had their whips. They started flicking them at Rose’s Messenger. Boy, is she going to be MAD ?

SKIRTS. The Skirt has to be the right skirt and the Person wearing the Skirt needs to know what he or she is doing. Then it is a very moving experience. |

She has put a scrunchie snood on her hat and is wearing lace gloves. Old Mother Taffy has her sister’s glasses on and can’t see straight at all. NO TRAVEL FOR YOU, TAFFY. |
OLD WITCHES. When it comes to the Old Witches in the Old Witches’ Home, then travelling becomes a problem because their magic is slipping. Not only slipping but slopping about a bit as well. There are NO brooms allowed in the Home. None at all. An old witch on a broom is not safe travelling.

Up on the 3rd Tower in the Perfumed Garden, the Tiny, Tiny birds are learning to fly. Its always a bit of a worry for the grown-ups. They worry that the Tin, Tiny Birds will fly off the edge and fall to the ground. They worry about all sorts of things when their children begin to fly.
The Grownup birds yabber yabber yabber, telling the children how to do it.
The Grownup Birds chitter chitter chitter telling them things they must not do.
There is really no need to worry at all.
The Spiders have woven silken nets all around the Tower Top and no Tiny Tony Bird has ever fallen over the edge.
Sometimes you can hear the tip tip tap tap of the baby woodpeckers being taught to peck. The Woodpeckers make their own Music. Its called Peckussion.
Trouble really dislikes Peckussion and that’s a good thing for Triflora. When the Peckers start into pecking, the tip tap goes right through the ground and under the ice and into the Cave of Trouble. She HATES the sound of it. She hates the sound even more when the Tiny Peckers are learning to peck.
Down in the Garden amongst the Sheep, Amelia is digging a well. Amelia is very tiny indeed. Noone knows what kind of animal she is and sometimes her enormous eyes look sad. She says she is not lonesome but she looks lonely to me.
Amelia likes living in the 3rd Tower. She feels safe there. She has her own room and the food is just lovely. The only thing Amelia is not quite happy about is the Water.
All the water in Trifloran wells is crystal and sweet.
All the water in Trifloran wells is good for you.
But maybe not for Amelia. She is looking for something different and only she knows what it is. We think its something to do with her Bath because she wears her bath robe all the time, even when she is digging.

The Tower Photographer was at 3rd Tower today. Everyone except for Amelia was dressed very smartly and hair and fur and feathers were brushed.
The tiny Beings of the 3rd Tower are very excited. They are planning to hang photographs along the corridors.
Tiny Beings are not always noticed by bigger Beings. Just wait until these photos come back. The Tiny Beings have ordered BLOWUPS and ENLARGEMENTS to give to their Friends in Triflora.
For sure, they will be noticed then.
The Tiny Beings of the Tower are very proud of being so small but some of them have had terrible frights out there in Triflora. Gustaf the Ghost Rabbit has almost been trodden on by 4329 people. His nerves are shattered. He refused to go in the photo and he says he will NEVER leave the Tower again.
Fulmer Xenophon is a different matter. Fulmer doesn’t let his size stop him from trying everything. He is thinking of going across to live on Cat and Fiddle Island even though he is only as big as an ordinary Trifloran Cat’s clawnail.
Fulmer Xenophon is one courageous pussycat.

The Horses of Triflora have 4 legs. Some of the 2 legged Beings think they can just ride on the Horses’ Backs because of this.
I can tell you this. The Horses are not amused.
When people come to visit, they bring their best manners with them.
Mac McNeil from the Highlands wears his finest clothes when he comes to Nerissa’s. He polishes his wings. He brushes his hair. And he BOWS a lot.
He does get nervous because some of the Mer People do not wear many clothes and up in the Highlands where he comes from, everyone wears plenty of clothes because its COLD.
Mac McNeil is especially polite when he sees Pechera. Pechera has settled down a lot lately and doesn’t mind doing all the important work she has to do.But she still likes the ordinary life best of all.
Mac McNeil has helped her a lot. Mac met Pechera when she was flying back from the Moon and he was flying about playing his bagpipes. Mac’s mother had told him that his playing sounded like a wolf howling at the moon. He thought that sounded rather wonderful so he took to flying about when the Moon was shining and playing his Pipes. The Highland Faeries are a wee bit unusual.
Well. On the night I was talking about, Pechera heard the noise of his ‘music’ while she was flying back from the Moon, conked out and crashed right into Mac McNeil. It gave him rather a fright but he dropped his Pipes and managed to catch her before she tumbled to the ground. Mac gently flew her down to the ground and when she woke they had a rather interesting conversation about almost everything they could think of. It turned out that both of them had important work to do.
But it also turned out that BOTH of them actually liked the ORDINARY LIFE best of all. They visit quite often now.
The Horses have put this Poster up all around Triflora. It shows all the Body Parts of a typical Triflorian Horse.
The Horses hope it will make them seem more real to other Beings.

Down at the River near the Village, not far from the Ferry Wharf is a beautiful house. It is made from mud brick and sea shells and brightly coloured jewels.
There is a Mother and a Father and a Boy and a Girl living there. It is a very important house in Triflora because the Girl is the Keeper of the Chooks and Ducks and all the Poultry – even the Golden Goose. Her name is Dolly. The Boy is a Daring Adventurer and a Thinker. He is called Fella. The Mumma can do many things. She mixes medicines and she brings babies into Triflora. She loves wool and beautiful yarn and can make clothes and scarfs and most importantly – Mumma Kath makes HATS. One day, I shall tell you more about her hats. The Dadda is the Maker and Keeper of the Lights. Lights are almost as important in a Fairy World as Music is. Their house is called the Light House.
Dadda Sincas is also a Fireman. The Firemen are very well trained and they handle a lot of the emergencies that come up. All the Firemen carry alarms that tell them when there is a Fire and if the alarm goes off – those Firemen are out of there in a moment!
Sincas has 9,238,000 ideas about Lights. He can’t make that many lights by himself. He needs Helpers.
And he does have some very good Helpers.
BUT – some of them DRINK. They drink HUGE barrels of interesting drinks. These are the Rascally Rogues.
They think they make better lights when they drink a Barrel of Grog – but they don’t. They make weird things.
Light Makers can be very peculiar indeed.
Dolly has a kitchen of her very own. She wears an apron when she is cooking and asks her friends over for a meal.
Dolly takes care of the animals. She has 16 kinds of Chooks, 11 types of ducks and many more.
The Golden Goose lives right in the middle of Dolly’s yard. She is safe there. Noone else knows that the eggs she lays are Golden.

It’s a strange place, the Wandering Desert. It moves about. When Nana wants a very private holiday from things, she goes to the Wandering Desert. She is very fond of CAMELS. Vanessa, the Vanishing Camel, has known Nana for 100 of years. There isn’t much left of Vanessa these days but there is still enough to give her old friend a ride into the Desert.
The only way to get into the Wandering Desert is on the back of a Camel. People have tried to find it by themselves but they never do find it.
Most people think its someplace beyond the 3rd Island – but that is just a guess.
Wizzy thinks that the Desert is in another dimension altogether. He has never been there because he doesn’t want to ride on a flying Camel – or on a vanishing Camel.
Dadda Jai has been there once when the Desert dwellers needed some very special building done. D.J. can build almost anything. He came home with a golden bracelet.
Sometimes Nana takes the 3 girls to the Desert and they have the best fun. The Oasis in the Middle looks just like 3rd Island and it is perfect for swimming and sunning and drinking coconut milk.
Life in the Desert is very INTERESTING. There are storytellers and musicians and plenty of dancing. Saffron and Rose and Poppy LOVE their holidays. Saffron wears the Gold Bracelet her father brought back and they all wear clothes of wonderful colours and plenty of jewellery. They dance and dance and dance till they’re dizzy and their hair is whirling and swirling.
They eat a lot of grapes in the desert they listen VERY carefully to the stories.
Wanderers know things. They see and hear things. They can tell you things.
When a whole desert wanders, then even the sand can tell you things.
When a whole desert wanders, then even the waters in the Oasis can tell you things. Sometimes. people in the Wandering Desert ask a question and noone knows the answer.
Then The Storyteller goes out to the Bridge and asks the Waters for an answer. He can almost always understand what the Waters say.
One of Nana’s friends, Nana Dorise, has been wandering in the Wandering Desert for 40 years. She went there to ask the Storyteller for advice but the Camel Ride freaked her out so much that she will not get on a Camel so that she can go back home.
She won’t even go near a camel.
Nana Dorice HATES the heat and the Wandering Desert is very hot.
She has become pretty good friends with the Storyteller. He tries to tell her that she won’t get home without a Camel’s help but she thinks that if she keeps wandering, she will eventually find a way back home.
In the Meantime, Nana Dorice roams all over the desert. She doesn’t even know that the Bactrian Camel is following her around and making sure she is safe. The Bactrian Camel LIKES Dorice. He makes sure there is food and water I the place she goes to and that the Sand where she sleeps is soft and snug. The Bactrian Camel doesn’t let anyone else ride him. He thinks that if he just follows Nana Dorice around taking good care of her, that one day she will like him too.
Then he will be able to help her go back home again.

Here in Triflora, there are so many Beings and so many places that all kinds of clothes and shoes are needed. Some are woven from spider silk. Some are made from the fine cottons of the Garden. Some are spun from seaweeds and coral threads.
Down here in Triflora, Beings do all kinds of things. They fly and they walk on their hands and they live deep under the Sea. It is very important that their clothes are just right for whatever it is that they are doing.
Here are a few of the things we wear and use in Triflora.

Nana does not like SUITS. She tried to get them banned from Triflora but too many people wanted to keep wearing SUITS and they kept right on wearing them no matter what she said. The best place to get a suit is from STANLEY STANHOPE. He knows just what a suit needs to be like and tailors them specially for you. This is his motto: SUITS THAT SUIT YOU. Stanley Stanhope once dressed the Lions of Triflora. That was before they grew fur of their own. Now he simply makes suits but he still uses a Lion in his advertisements. |

The 4 Grasshoppers get their strength from Oats. They need strength because they make almost all the safety clothing for the Insects of Triflora. Here they are, dressed in their own Golden Hopper Suits. Insects usually have very soft bodies and the 4 Grasshoppers make Strong Clothing for Soft Hearts.

The 4 Grasshoppers ONLY make clothes for Insects and Clowns. They will not make clothes for anyone else at all. All the rest of the Circus clothes are made by the CLOWNS.

A little Little Boy by the name of Toby took himself off one day from the Village and managed to lose himself in the Impchkin Forest.
Now, Toby was known to complain.
He complained about almost everything.
He complained almost all the time.
He complained to everyone that he met.
He had taken himself off from the Village because he didn’t like his breakfast. He had complained to Mumma Jo and Mad O’Brian about it and they just said;
He was very shocked and went to complain to Dadda Jai and Mumma Kate but he took one look at their irritated faces and decided to go and get lost instead. “
That’s just what he did. He got himself really lost. He thought someone would come looking for him but nobody did. He kept complaining to himself about the people he had to live with and the food he had to eat. Then he started to complain to himself about being lost, and tired, and hungry and thirsty.
When it started to get dark and he found himself in the middle of a Forest, he really started to whinge and whine. He was also rather afraid.
Round about then he saw a light coming towards him.
Toby was about to complain about being called a Growler but he thought better of it. He didn’t know any other way to get out of the Forest so he took a closer look at the Light. It was being held by a tiny little Man. Impchkin Ian was his name. He was crooked and he had a crooked walking stick and his bottom lip stuck out.
WHEN THINGS SEEM TOUGH AND TIMES ARE ROUGH, REMEMBER THAT IT COULD BE WORSE.

Lavinia and Louisa have a little Cottage in the Village. Everything looks pretty good at their place until you meet Albertina. Albertina is their sister. Unfortunately, she is becoming more and more like a cat as she grows older. She was warned when she was little to stop being so Catty ( so mean and nasty to other people) but she would not stop. Now the only thing that’s really left of the old Albertina is her voice. Problem is – she still hasn’t learned her lesson. She is still Catty to people. Her sisters try to keep out of her way because she says such mean things to them and leaves fur all over the furniture. She is a big Problem for her sisters. Any REAL Cat would be ashamed to speak or behave the way Albertina does. |
Charmaine truly has a problem. She’s not complaining about it but that could be because she is unconscious. Charmaine is the daughter of a Witch. Charmaine is supposed to be a witch, herself but she HATES witchery. She’s afraid of flying broomsticks and she doesn’t know one single magic spell. Her mother, Charmaginia, STILL wants Charmaine to be a witch and she will not stop trying to teach her how to be one. Charmaine hates being tied to her mother’s broomstick. She almost always passes out. When two people want two very different things, then you really have problems. |

The MerryMen have a new neighbour. Take a look at that for a neighbour when you’re feeling sorry for yourself. |
The Neighbour is huge and he has a good heart. He is what we call”Helpful”. The problem is that his help always goes wrong. He treads on people without meaning to. And not just on their toes. He gives people a lift – but not to where they want to go. |
Impchkin Ian showed Toby some Beings with Problems. Then he took him to his treehouse in the Impchkin Forest and made him a bed and something to eat.
“No growling tonight, Toby! You have lessons to learn tomorrow.”
